Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

A New Friend
Sam was feeling a little lonely. He hoped to have a new friend to play with. One day, while he was running in the woods, he saw something different. It was a little animal with colorful fur. Sam carefully walked over to the creature and spoke, "Hello! What's your title?" The creature laughed and told Sam, "I'm Lily!" And so, Sam made a new companion. They spent the rest of the day laughing together.
Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be great pals forever.
